The Farm

The farm is G.Joe’s largest work of art.  He started building in the early 1990s, and the spirit of the place is uniquely both retrospective, and progressive. Over three-quarters of the building materials were salvaged from the Ohio countryside, as G. Joe would notice a place awaiting the wrecking ball, and negotiate with owners for materials in exchange for his labor in dismantling the building, piece by piece. Over a decade, he gathered enough massive barn beams, wide oak flooring, and classic architectural elements to build the three-story house,  barn, and cottage for the family property.

G.Joe and Catherine taught themselves old fashioned processes like plaster & stucco,  and alternative methods such as stack-wood. Catherine’s artistry shines through in the bold color choices and surprising blend of antiques with contemporary comforts throughout the house.
